Junior Certificate

Academic Programme


Students follow a set curriculum which leads to the Junior Certificate at the end of three years.

Up to Junior Certificate students may study the following:

English
Irish
Mathematics
French or Italian
Science
Geography
Art
Business Studies
History
Home Economics
Woodwork
P.E.
Religious Education
Music
CSPE (Civic, Social and Political Education)
SPHE (Social, Personal and Health Education)

Subjects may be taken at different levels.
English, Irish and Maths may be taken at Higher, Ordinary or Foundation level.
Other subjects (with the exception of CSPE which is a common level paper) may be taken at Higher or Ordinary level only.
Students do not sit an examination in PE, SPHE or Religion (at the present time).
Subject choices can vary from year to year depending on demand.


Extra English tuition is available to all students whose first language is not English.
